Chitosan-Based Gel Adjuvant with Minimal Stress
The microparticle adjuvant is a chitosan-based formulation with excellent bioavailability and biodegradability, as well as minimal toxicity. Chitosan itself acts as a potent immunostimulant because of its polysaccharides structure. Antigens can be encapsulated in chitosan through electrostatic interactions between positively charged chitosan and negatively charged antigens. The resulting complexes can then form Microparticles dispersed in the aqueous phase to create the final vaccine formulation.
